A tiger is lurking in the Pavillon des Rohan. It is a tiger covered with acrylic and watercolour paints, hand and machine embroidery, collage, the result of a lengthy piece of work produced by the AIKB Art & Textiles Group. This project was led by Jenny BOLT, in charge of this Group, who got the inspiration from Douanier Rousseau's famous painting "Surpris!" or "Tiger in a tropical storm" painted in 1891.

The Art & Textiles Group's artistic version is a bit different from the original: it was shared in 16 equal parts and each member of the Group was randomly given a section which they drew onto an A3 sized canvas panel. Each artist worked independently, frequently checking that each panel joined udp accurately with the neighbouring panels until the whole piece was finished.

It transpires that the AIKB's Tiger is the same size as the original, now hanging in the National Gallery in London.
